Choosing an island
- Virgin Gorda villas
Virgin Gorda is the BVI's second most-visited island, best known for The Baths — a shoreline of giant granite boulders, grottos and tidal pools. Villas cluster around Spanish Town and the Valley for easy access to shops and the ferry, Mahoe Bay and Little Trunk Bay for calm swimming beaches, and North Sound for watersports and sailing-away dinners at Leverick Bay and Bitter End.
- Tortola villas
Tortola is the largest and busiest of the British Virgin Islands and home to Road Town, the main ferry terminals and the airport on neighbouring Beef Island. Its steep green hills are dotted with villas looking out over the Sir Francis Drake Channel, and the north shore is lined with beaches such as Cane Garden Bay, Brewers Bay, Long Bay and Smuggler's Cove.
- Anegada villas
Anegada is the only coral island in the BVI — flat, remote and ringed by miles of near-empty white sand beaches such as Loblolly Bay and Cow Wreck Beach. It is surrounded by Horseshoe Reef, one of the largest barrier reefs in the Caribbean, and is famous for snorkelling, bonefishing, flamingos and grilled Anegada lobster. The more adventurous can take downwind paddleboard tours, kite surfing and wing foiling.
- Jost Van Dyke villas
Jost Van Dyke is a small, laid-back island just west of Tortola, famous for White Bay, Great Harbour and beach bars loved by the sailing crowd. Days here revolve around swimming, snorkelling, hiking to the Bubbly Pool and long lunches with your feet in the sand.
- Scrub Island villas
Scrub Island is a small private island just off Tortola's East End, a few minutes by boat from Beef Island airport. It combines a full-service marina and resort amenities with hillside villas overlooking the surrounding islands.

Which BVI island is best for a villa holiday?
Tortola has the most choice and the best transport links. Virgin Gorda is quieter with The Baths and calm beaches. Anegada is remote with empty beaches, Jost Van Dyke is small and laid-back, and Scrub Island offers resort amenities on a private island.
When is the best time to rent a villa in the BVI?
December to April is the driest, breeziest and most expensive season. May, June and November offer better value. Hurricane season runs June to November, so consider travel insurance.
How far ahead should I book?
For Christmas, New Year and Easter, many villas book up six to twelve months ahead. Outside peak season a few months is usually enough.
Is there a minimum stay?
Some villas require 5 or 7 nights, especially over the holidays. Every rate on BVI Property Search is shown per night so you can compare easily.
How do I get to the BVI?
Most visitors fly to Beef Island (Tortola) via Puerto Rico, Antigua or St. Maarten, or fly to St. Thomas and take a ferry. Inter-island ferries connect Tortola with Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and Anegada.
Do I need a car?
On Tortola and Virgin Gorda a rental car or jeep is recommended because roads are steep and taxis are priced per trip. Driving is on the left. On Scrub Island you won't need one.
What currency is used in the BVI?
The US dollar is the official currency, and villa rates on this site are shown in USD.
